Quality Assurance

The Education Review Office (ERO) is the New Zealand government's external evaluation agency.  ERO reviews of private schools are significantly different in process and more limited in scope and reporting than those for state and state-integrated schools, focusing as they do on the Criteria for Registration set out in clauses 2 to 6, Schedule 7 of the Education and Training Act 2020. Reviews from 2020 onward are limited.

At MCS we constantly monitor and evaluate what is working well and where improvements can be made-reinforcing a culture of on-going improvement and growth.  Reaching positive learning outcomes of deep knowledge, transferrable skills, positive attitude and life-long habits are considered for all our students.

Excerpts from leaving students:
"One of the most important things the school has done for me, was bringing me to God and constantly reminding me to work hard and to never give up. I truly appreciate the healthy environment created at MCS and the close relationships I have developed with teachers and students."

"I am glad to have had the opportunity to attend a  school with such strong Christian values and teaching. This school taught me the importance of discipline, working hard and striving for my goals whilst diligently serving God."

"Perhaps the most amazing thing about attending this school was that, while the Bible is taught in classrooms, a Biblical worldview was taught through the lives of the staff.  It was one thing to have a lesson on apologetics and various doctrines, but it was another to see our teachers stand up for what they believe regarding these doctrines."

Excerpt from a previous ERO Report
"Manukau Christian School is managed by the Christian Schools of Auckland Charitable Trust and is led by an experienced principal.  Since the 2012 ERO review the school roll has grown from 96 to 170 students.

The Cambridge International Curriculum is now well established.  This curriculum has a strong focus on the teaching of English, Mathematics and Science.  The school's mission guides the delivery of the curriculum.

  • Classes are well managed with positive and respectful relationships evident.
  • Appropriate teaching techniques are used to engage children in their learning.
  • Teachers use effective assessment processes to monitor student progress.

Parents receive regular reports on the achievement, work habits and behaviour of their children.  They have opportunities to see samples of their children's work and are welcome to observe lessons and talk with teachers.

Children are educated in spacious, purpose-built classrooms that are joined by covered areas that sometimes act as additional learning areas. The rooms are air-conditioned and well maintained.

The Trustboard has managed significant roll growth well.

The school has sufficient equipment to deliver the curriculum.  There is a good supply of textbooks to teach the International Cambridge Curriculum.  Each classroom has a library of reading material that is regularly supplemented by books ordered from the national library service.  Teachers encourage parents to visit the public library with their children.
